The City of Independence Water Department will be replacing a broken fire hydrant on Tuesday, March 24^th, 2026.  The replacement will result in a water shutdown from 6^th Ave SW to 8^th Ave SW between 8^th St and 9^th St SW. The water is expected to be shut down around 9:00 AM and turned back on mid-afternoon. Please note that in unexpected situations, other areas near this location could be affected.
