Sanford TriRiver Water Alerts
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT --- BECAUSE YOU DID
A large water leak is causing outages and low water pressure for people living and working in Pittsboro.
A contractor hit and damaged a 16-inch water main located near the Lowe's Home Improvement store off Hillsboro Street.
TriRiver Water crews have shut off water service for customers between Basil Womack Drive and Lowes Drive. However, a much larger area surrounding that stretch of road is dealing with low water pressure because of the leak.
The leak caused the distribution system to hemorrhage around 150,000 gallons of water in a short amount of time. In addition, the water plant cannot resupply the distribution system at this time because of the extent of the damage to the water main. That's why TriRiver Water customers in the surrounding area may notice low water pressure until this problem is fixed.
The good news is that TriRiver Water crews are actively working to repair the broken water main. They believe they will have it fixed before 5 p.m. Once it is fixed, the water plant will refill the distribution system as fast as possible--which shouldn't take more than an hour.
We apologize for the inconvenience this situation has caused. Please call 919-775-8215 if you have any further questions.
