Battle Creek Police investigate fatal shooting on South Burdge Street

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – The Battle Creek Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred late Wednesday night, July 9, in the 100 block of South Burdge Street.
Officers responded to the scene shortly after 11 p.m., where they found a 23-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite life-saving efforts by LifeCare Ambulance personnel, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives from the BCPD Investigations Bureau were immediately activated. Following interviews and a preliminary review of evidence, investigators believe an unknown suspect fired multiple rounds at the victim before fleeing the area.
