Metronet to launch fiber project with citywide pole inspections

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — As part of the initial phase of Metronet’s citywide fiber-optic network project in Battle Creek, contractor Vertical Dynamix will be conducting a telecommunications survey of utility poles throughout the community beginning Thursday, July 10.
This survey involves capturing detailed photographs and measurements to assess the condition of each utility pole and determine whether additional communications lines can be safely installed.
While most of the work will take place in public rights-of-way, some utility poles are located in backyards or behind buildings. In these cases, Vertical Dynamix crews will knock on doors to request access before proceeding. If no one is available, crews will continue their work while remaining respectful of private property.
This survey is for documentation purposes only and will not involve any construction or affect utility services.
Metronet is building a 100% fiber-optic internet network across Battle Creek, using a combination of underground construction and existing utility poles. The project will be completed in multiple phases over time.
As construction progresses, the City of Battle Creek will share updates to help residents stay informed about work happening in specific neighborhoods. Updates will be posted on the city’s website and through city alerts.
Visit Metronet's website to ask a question or follow-up about Metronet fiber internet construction activities happening in your neighborhood.
