BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — The City of Battle Creek, in coordination with the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE), will conduct a lake weed treatment in Goguac Lake on Thursday, June 26.

This treatment targets nuisance aquatic weeds and algae to help maintain a safe and healthy lake environment. Signs will be posted in the treated areas, asking neighbors and visitors to stay out of the water for 24 hours following the application. This allows the treatment to effectively reach and control the targeted weed species.

While the treatment is tested and approved for safe use in the lake, anyone who enters the water during the posted restriction period is advised to shower afterward as a precaution.

Please note:
Willard Beach Park and the surrounding beach area will remain open during this time.

For questions, please contact the city’s Environmental Services staff at 269-966-3343.

The city appreciates the community’s cooperation in supporting the health of Goguac Lake and ensuring a safe recreational space for all.
