BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – The City of Battle Creek's Protected Places Program allows businesses, property managers, schools, houses of worship, and other organizations to voluntarily share information that may help first responders during an emergency.

Property owners can choose how much information they share. Options include:

• After-hours contact information so first responders know who to contact when an issue occurs.
• Building layouts and site details that can help responders navigate a property more safely and efficiently.
• Selected security camera feeds that can be viewed by 911 dispatch during an active emergency. Property owners decide which cameras are shared.

Participation is entirely voluntary, and property owners determine their level of involvement.

The goal is simple: help first responders arrive with better information so they can focus on protecting people and property when every second counts.
