BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — City crews will complete installation work for water and sewer service along Helmer Road, resulting in a temporary road closure, beginning today, Monday, Aug. 3.

This water and sewer service installation is needed for the new senior independent living facility being constructed at 14200 Helmer Road S., Battle Creek.

The temporary road closure will be in place along:

• Helmer Road South, between Gethings Road and Watkins Road

This temporary road closure is in place for thru traffic traveling along Helmer Road South in this area. The following recommended detour route is in place for thru traffic:

• Northbound Helmer Road South traffic - Turn left on Watkins Road, turn right on Stone Jug Road, turn right on Gethings Road, and then turn left to resume northbound on Helmer Road South
• Southbound Helmer Road South traffic - Turn right on Gethings Road, turn left on Stone Jug Road, turn left on Watkins Road, and then turn right to resume southbound on Helmer Road South

Neighbors are reminded to be aware of crews and equipment when traveling in and around this area. There are no expected impacts to Ride Calhoun routes and stops during this work.

Crews began this water and sewer service installation work today, Monday, Aug. 3, and expect to be completed by Saturday, Aug. 8. Work hours will generally be from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
