Battle Creek police arrest man after Pleasant Avenue gun report

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – Battle Creek police arrested a 31-year-old Battle Creek man Sunday afternoon after responding to a report of a person with a gun in the 100 block of Pleasant Avenue.
Officers were called to the area at about 2:16 p.m. Sunday, June 14. Callers reported that a man was walking in the street, yelling at neighbors and acting disorderly. Additional information indicated the man had a long gun.
When officers arrived, they spoke with a victim who reported that the suspect had pointed a long gun at them. The suspect then went into a nearby home.
Officers established a perimeter around the home and attempted to contact the suspect by phone, without success. Officers then gave verbal commands for the suspect to leave the home. The suspect complied and was taken into custody without incident.
Police recovered a firearm at the scene. No injuries were reported.
The suspect was lodged at the Calhoun County Jail on a charge of felonious assault and outstanding warrants.
The investigation remains ongoing.
