BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — City sewer crews will complete valve repair work at a lift station along Main Street, resulting in a temporary road closure, tomorrow, Wednesday, June 10.

The valve work will repair two valves at lift station #28, located at 703 Main St. A lift station serves to transport wastewater from lower to higher elevations, which helps to continue the flow throughout parts of the wastewater system where gravity isn't sufficient for transporting wastewater.

The area impacted by this temporary road closure includes:

  • Main Street, from its intersection with Beadle Lake Road to its intersection with Golden Avenue

This temporary road closure will impact thru traffic, while neighbors will still be able to get to and from their homes in this area. Neighbors are reminded to be aware of crews and equipment when traveling in this area. There are also no expected impacts to Ride Calhoun routes or stops, as a result of this work.

Crews plan to begin this valve repair work by 4 a.m. Wednesday, June 10, and expect to be completed by 3 p.m., with the temporary road closure expected to end then, too.
