Boil Water Advisory (Division St.)

Boil your water before using
BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — The City of Battle Creek has shut down a portion of the water system for improvements or repairs. When work requires system pressure to be reduced below a certain level, there is a potential for bacteria to enter the system. These bacteria are generally not harmful and are common in the environment. As a safeguard to public health, the City of Battle Creek is advising residents to boil their water before consuming it.
The advisory is in effect for the following location(s):
On Division St between Hamblin Ave & Mike Humes Way
What should I do?
The City of Battle Creek advises that you boil your tap water before consuming it. Bring all water to a rolling boil for one full minute, then allow it to cool before use. Bottled water may also be used.
Use boiled or bottled water for:
- Drinking
- Making ice
- Brushing teeth
- Washing dishes
- Food preparation
What is the City doing?
The advisory has been issued as a precaution because system pressure was reduced during improvement or repair work. City crews are working to restore pressure as quickly as possible. Water teams will flush hydrants and water mains and collect bacteriological samples in the affected area.
The City will notify local news media and update the City website’s Alert Center when testing confirms the water is safe and the advisory can be lifted.
