City of Battle Creek shares reminders regarding utility work, as construction season is in full bloom

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — The City of Battle Creek's Department of Public Works is sharing a reminder with our neighbors that construction season - including our unofficial state flower, the orange construction barrels and cones - is in full bloom!

As our DPW crews, along with contractors, work on several projects to improve infrastructure - from roads to water mains - all across the city this construction season, it is important to remember that not all projects are city projects. These projects generally observe the annual construction season: late spring through the end of November.

Several utility contractors are also working to improve utilities across the city. While these utility companies, and their contractors, don't work directly for the City of Battle Creek, or our DPW, they are permitted to complete work across the city.

When your neighborhood is impacted by utility work, and you may have questions or concerns about the project, we encourage neighbors to reach out directly to the utility company. The following are some helpful contacts:

As a general reminder, work hours for projects like these generally are from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday-Friday, with occasional weekend work, as needed. Neighbors are reminded to drive slow in construction areas and to be aware of crews, equipment, and temporary road control signage when traveling in these areas, as well.
