BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — City field services crews will complete asphalt resurfacing work along Menno Place, resulting in a temporary road closure, beginning tomorrow, Wednesday, April 29.

The temporary road closure will impact:

  • Menno Place, at its intersection with Wa Wee Nork Drive to Lakefront Drive

While local traffic will still be able to travel west on Wa Wee Nork Drive, neighbors are reminded to be aware of crews and equipment when traveling in the area - especially the intersection of Menno Place and Wa Wee Nork Drive.

Crews will begin this asphalt resurfacing work Wednesday, April 29, and expect to be completed by Friday, May 1, with the temporary road closure ending then, too. Work hours will generally be from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily.

This resurfacing work is needed due to erosion of the roadway near the intersection of Menno Place and Wa Wee Nork Drive. Crews will start at the intersection and also resurface additional areas down the hill on Menno Place towards Goguac Lake, as needed.

While this asphalt resurfacing is a temporary fix to help ensure safety of the roadway, Menno Place has been added to the Department of Public Works' street treatment list for later this year, for complete resurfacing work.
