City Alert – weather impacts, use caution

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — Following this evening’s strong winds and storms, the City of Battle Creek is receiving reports of downed trees and limbs, downed power lines, and power outages. Neighbors are urged to use caution and follow the safety guidance below:
- Power outage: Report to Consumers Energy at 800‑477‑5050 or online at consumersenergy.com
- Downed power lines: Never approach or touch a downed line. Stay at least 30 feet away and call or text 911 immediately.
- Traffic signals out: Treat intersections without power as all‑way stops and use extra caution.
- Tree blocking a roadway: Report downed trees impacting streets to the non‑emergency line at 269‑781‑0911.
Calhoun County Consolidated Dispatch (Calhoun County 911) will coordinate with the Battle Creek Fire Department, Battle Creek Police Department, and Department of Public Works crews to address hazards and blocked roadways.
