Vehicle strikes Post Avenue home; juvenile driver arrested

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – A vehicle struck a residence in the 100 block of Post Avenue Saturday, April 4, after the driver lost control. 

Battle Creek Police arrived shortly before 2 p.m. to find the vehicle resting on the front porch of the home. According to investigators, the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed along Post Avenue when it left the roadway and collided with the structure. 

The collision dislodged a support pillar on the porch; however, the main dwelling sustained no structural damage. The homeowner was inside at the time but was not injured. 

The driver, a juvenile male, was arrested and lodged at the Calhoun County Juvenile Detention Facility on charges of reckless driving and driving while unlicensed.  

A passenger in the vehicle was evaluated at the scene for a minor head injury and released. 

The Battle Creek Fire DepartmentLifeCare Ambulance, and City Code Compliance assisted at the scene. 

No further information is being released at this time.
