Temporary road closure along Riverside Drive during emergency tree removal work Wednesday, March 18

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — The city's forestry team will complete an emergency tree removal along Riverside Drive, resulting in a temporary road closure, today, Wednesday, March 18.
The tree was discovered to be split and hanging over Riverside Drive, near South Moorland Drive, earlier this morning, which resulted in the need for an emergency tree removal.
The temporary road closure will impact:
- Riverside Drive, between East Minges Road and South Hills Drive
Neighbors traveling in this area are encouraged to find an alternative route, including the following recommended detour:
- Northbound on Riverside Drive: Turn left on East Minges Road, turn right on Capital Avenue SW, turn right on South Hills Drive, turn left on Lincoln Hill Drive, continue onto South Hills Drive, and then turn left to resume northbound on Riverside Drive
- Southbound on Riverside Drive: Turn right on South Hills Drive, continue onto Lincoln Hill Drive, turn right on South Hills Drive, turn left on Capital Avenue SW, turn left on East Minges Road, and then turn right to resume southbound on Riverside Drive
Crews began this emergency tree removal work at 9 a.m. Wednesday, March 18, and expect to be completed by 11 a.m., with the temporary road closure ending then, too.
