In the center, white text reads “Snowtifications” in a large script font, with smaller text above and below that says “Field Services” and “City of Battle Creek.” The Battle Creek city seal appears at the bottom center inside a white hexagonal outline.
BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — The recent snow was extremely wet and heavy, making clearing roads more challenging than usual. Crews focused on major roads first and didn’t reach neighborhood streets until late last night. They are still out this morning working hard.

Here’s what to know:

  • It typically takes about three days to plow the entire city once, and sometimes longer when conditions require extra attention on main routes.
  • As of this morning, crews estimate they’ve plowed about 70 percent of city roads and expect to finish all streets by tonight.
  • Our snow operations prioritize major roads for emergency access, then move to neighborhoods. We make one pass on residential streets, and parked cars can limit how close plows get to the curb.

Other reminders:

  • If we accidentally damaged your mailbox during plowing, please call Field Services at 269-966-3507 or the 311 Information Center at 269-966-3311.
  • Please do not plow or blow snow, ice, or slush onto or across the road, or even onto the shoulder. This creates dangerous situations for drivers and can block their vision. Thank you for helping keep roads safe!
  • Learn more about snow operations on the city website: https://www.battlecreekmi.gov/580/Snow-Operations

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work through the snow!
