No injuries reported during fire in vacant commercial structure on Upton Avenue Sunday, Nov. 23

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – The Battle Creek Fire Department and LifeCare Ambulance were dispatched to a report of a fire in a vacant commercial structure on Upton Avenue, just before 10 a.m. yesterday, Sunday, Nov. 23.
The BCFD's Car 3 arrived on scene, at 72 Upton Ave., to find black smoke coming from a detached garage. Rescue 2 and Engine 5 each deployed hose lines to attack the fire from separate locations, due to access issues, while Truck 1 forced entry into the structure. Engine 4 and Squad 6 provided water supply and support functions.
The fire was brought under control in roughly 20 minutes and there were no injuries reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the BCFD Fire Marshal's office.
