Battle Creek police arrest stabbing suspect early Wednesday morning

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – Battle Creek police officers arrested a 49-year-old Battle Creek man early Wednesday morning in connection with a stabbing near Main Street and Pittee Street.
Officers responded to the area around 12:15 a.m. Oct. 15 after receiving a report of a stabbing. The suspect fled on foot before officers arrived.
Police spoke with the 31-year-old male victim, a Battle Creek resident, and witnesses at the scene. LifeCare Ambulance and the Battle Creek Fire Department also responded. The victim was transported for treatment and is currently in stable condition.
Based on the information gathered, officers developed a description of the suspect. They recognized the individual from an earlier encounter that evening and later saw him walking toward a motel in the 100 block of North Division Street.
Officers identified the room the suspect entered, obtained a search warrant, and arrested him without incident. The investigation remains ongoing; No further information will be released at this time.
