BCPD investigates shooting near Battle Creek Central High School

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – At approximately 3 p.m. Monday, Sept. 8, Battle Creek police officers were dispatched to the area just north of Battle Creek Central High School following reports of a disturbance.
According to preliminary information, a verbal altercation occurred between a group of individuals in a vehicle and another group on foot. During the incident, a subject fired an undetermined number of rounds.
One individual was struck and sustained a non-life-threatening injury. The individual was treated and released. No other injuries have been reported at this time.

The Battle Creek Police Department and Battle Creek Public Schools administration will issue a joint statement on Tuesday, Sept. 9.
