City of Battle Creek shares Labor Day service reminders

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — The City of Battle Creek is sharing annual service adjustments and facility closure reminders for the upcoming holiday weekend. 

City administrative offices will be closed on Monday, Sept. 1, in observance of Labor Day. Offices will reopen at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, with regular business hours. Additionally: 

  • Battle Creek Transit services — including fixed-route buses, Tele-Transit, and BCGo — will not operate on Labor Day. All services will resume Tuesday. 
  • Republic Services will pause curbside waste and recycling collection on Monday, resulting in a one-day delay for all pickups during the holiday week. 
  • Full Blast Recreation Center will be closed Thursday, Aug. 28, through Sunday, Sept. 7, for annual maintenance, gym floor resurfacing, and staff training. The facility will reopen Monday, Sept. 8. 
  • Flash Flood Water Park will be open Saturday, Aug. 30, through Monday, Sept. 1. Labor Day marks the final day of the 2025 season. 

Don’t forget about the annual Puppy Plunge! 

Celebrate the end of summer with your furry friend at the annual Puppy Plunge at Flash Flood on Saturday, Sept. 6. 

  • Small dogs (30 lbs. and under): 1–1:45 p.m. 
  • Large dogs (over 30 lbs.): 2–2:45 p.m. 
  • Cost: $10 per dog (includes one human chaperone) 
Requirements: Dogs must be spayed or neutered, and proof of current vaccinations is required at check-in.  As summer winds down, the city encourages residents to stay connected with the city by subscribing to city alerts or connecting on social media
