Message from The City of Panama City: Streetscapes Phase 2 Update
The fences are down, and progress is visible along Phase 2A of the Harrison Avenue Streetscapes Project. As of today, the roadway from Four Points Plaza to 5th Street has reopened to pedestrian traffic. It will reopen to vehicle traffic by 6 a.m. on Monday, May 5th, following scheduled overnight work on Sunday.
City Manager Jonathan Hayes expressed enthusiasm about this milestone, stating, “We’re excited to see this phase coming together—this brings us one step closer to finishing the project and opening up a beautiful new space for our community to enjoy.”
On Monday, a minimal number of crews will remain onsite to allow AT&T to complete utility work beneath the crosswalk between the furniture store and City Hall, within the fenced portion of Block 2.
Beginning next week, construction crews will shift their primary focus to the 500 block of Harrison Avenue, between 5th and 6th Streets. Ongoing work in this section includes water line installations and building service connections, with infrastructure upgrades continuing throughout May.
The Harrison Avenue Streetscapes Project remains on schedule for completion this fall, and the City appreciates the community’s continued support and patience throughout the process.
