Monitoring Potential Tropical Activity in the Gulf
The City of Panama City is closely monitoring forecasts for the potential development of a tropical system in the Gulf this week. While it is still too early to determine the system’s exact track, intensity, or impacts on our area, we encourage everyone to remain weather-aware and take this opportunity to prepare.
As a City, we are doing the same. Our teams are taking proactive steps to prepare for the possibility of impacts, including:
- Beginning cleanup and securing non-critical City assets.
- Beginning the drawdown process at wastewater treatment facilities.
- Reviewing operational plans and preparing to respond as conditions evolve.
Residents can also take a few simple steps now to help protect themselves, their property, and our community. Please bag and properly dispose of yard clippings, and make sure leaves, branches, trash, and other items that could be blown or swept into storm drains are cleared away.
We also encourage residents to review the City’s Hurricane Information page (linked below) for important hurricane season preparation information, including tips and resources to help you and your family be ready.
We will continue to monitor the forecasts and provide updates as more information becomes available. For now, we encourage everyone to stay informed, review their emergency plans, and be prepared to act if conditions change.
