Drop Off Your Food Scraps for Composting at the Colonie Farmers' Market Saturdays from May 17 to Sept 20 in 2025!Food scraps don’t belong in the garbage. Instead, bring your food scraps to the 2025 Colonie Farmers' Market. Every Saturday from 9 am to 1 pm, volunteers from Zero Waste Capital District will manage a food scraps drop off site for residents and vendors. Food products only: No meat, fish or dairy please. Fruits, vegetables, nuts, egg shells, and coffee grounds are all okay.
These food scraps will be diverted from the landfill, picked up by the Town of Colonie and made into compost: a fertilizer used to enrich soil for growing healthy, nutrient-dense food instead of generating greenhouse gases. Together we can make a difference. Composting your food scraps is a great place to start!
