BOIL WATER NOTICE RESCINDED
What Happened?
At approximately 8:00 a.m. on January 19, 2026, the catastrophic failure of a 24” water transmission line in the vicinity of 31 British American Boulevard resulted in significant system-wide water loss and reduced pressures throughout the Town of Colonie and Village of Colonie.
A loss of pressure is not an indication that water is unsafe to drink. However, loss of pressure has the potential to result in untreated water admittance into the drinking water system via backflow or leaks. Because pressure in some areas of the Town eventually fell below our safety threshold, and in an abundance of caution, a Boil Water Notice was issued.
What was done?
Employees of Latham Water immediately mobilized and isolated the section of the failed transmission main allowing system pressure to return to normal by early in the morning on January 20, 2026. Once pressures returned to normal, staff collected and analyzed water samples from throughout the distribution system. Laboratory results received at 11:59 p.m. on January 21, 2026, confirmed that water quality meets state and federal standards.
Customers may now resume use of tap water for ingestion.
