City Hall Fire Recovery Closure Update – Closed Monday, June 30
City Hall will remain closed to the public on Monday, June 30, and is expected to reopen with limited in-person services on Tuesday, July 1. City services remain available online at www.chinohills.org.
All summer recreation programs and events are operating as planned, including Concerts in the Park, Movies in the Park, and camps or classes. In-person Recreation services are available at the Chino Hills Community Center, located at 14250 Peyton Drive, during normal business hours. Field operations conducted by Public Works Inspectors, Building Inspectors, and Code Enforcement Officers continue despite the City Hall closure. Public Works and Engineering staff are continuing all operations from the off-site City Yard location. Please continue to use the City App, online Request Tracker, or call (909) 364-2800 for Public Works-related concerns.
Remediation and recovery efforts at City Hall following the recent fire and resulting water damage are underway. Yesterday, all City Hall staff worked nonstop to fully pack up and clear out City Hall, making way for the next phase of recovery work. This was a major undertaking to protect important records, equipment, and materials.
Today, the City’s contractor began construction and demolition work as part of the first phase of restoration. This includes removing damaged materials, such as drywall, flooring, and ceiling panels, as well as inspecting all electrical components. Crews will be working throughout the weekend. While this is an important step in our recovery, the full restoration period is anticipated to take several months.
In the meantime, we are actively working to establish a temporary Customer Service Center inside City Hall to provide a limited range of in-person public services. We expect to announce details about available services on Monday, June 30.
