Chino Hills Preliminary Budget Available for Public Review

The City of Chino Hills' preliminary fiscal year (FY) 2026-27 budget is now available for public review. The preliminary FY 2026-27 General Fund budget includes approximately $59.2 million in revenue and $63.5 million in expenditures, creating a projected $4.3 million deficit. Several key factors are contributing to the City’s rising costs, including a $2.4 million increase in public safety costs, an increased need for wildfire preparedness, landscaping and park maintenance, and street sweeping subsidies. To view the preliminary budget, please visit www.chinohills.org/CityBudget.
The proposed budget focuses on maintaining the City’s high quality of life and preserving essential services residents value, such as public safety and 911 response times, crime prevention, wildfire preparedness and emergency readiness, clean and safe parks, streets, and public spaces, and maintaining infrastructure. The City’s General Fund Reserves will be used to cover the projected $4.3 million deficit while exploring long-term solutions to address the structural imbalance.
A budget workshop is planned for Tuesday, May 26, at 3:30 pm in the City Hall Council Chambers. The community is encouraged to attend to gain a better understanding of the proposed budget, revenue projections, expenses, Capital Improvement Projects, and how budget decisions impact essential services. There will be an opportunity for members in attendance to provide public comments and share their thoughts on the proposed budget.
The final City budget will be presented to the City Council during a public hearing at the June 9 City Council Meeting.
