Multi-Agency Emergency Exercise in Oak Bluffs on April 8
Dukes County Emergency Management Association would like to inform all residents and visitors of a planned multi-agency emergency response exercise taking place on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 from approximately 10AM – 3PM at the Oak Bluffs Steamship Authority Terminal.
This exercise, coordinated by the Steamship Authority in partnership with local, state, and federal agencies, will simulate a maritime security scenario.
What to Expect:
At the start of the exercise, there will be a loud boom sound. This sound is intentional and part of the drill. There is no need to call 9-1-1.
Important Information:
• This is only a drill – NOT a real emergency
• The terminal and the immediate surrounding area will be temporarily blocked off for safety reasons
• Please avoid the area during the exercise
• No ferry travel impacts are expected
Exercises like this help strengthen coordination and preparedness across agencies serving Dukes County and Martha’s Vineyard.
We appreciate your awareness and cooperation.
