West Tisbury Town Buildings Closed Tuesday & Warming Center Open Overnight

Due to Winter Storm Hernando’s impacts and extended power outages across town, all Town of West Tisbury buildings will be CLOSED on Tuesday, February 23.

The Emergency Warming Center, which has been open since 8:00 AM at the West Tisbury Free Public Library, will extend its hours overnight tonight and remain open tomorrow for West Tisbury residents who:

  • Are without power

  • Have access and functional needs

  • Have medical necessity

Anyone coming to the shelter should bring personal comfort items and medications if possible.

If you need assistance getting to the shelter, please contact the Dukes County Sheriff's Office non-emergency line at 508-693-1212. We will attempt to assist with transportation as needed, if conditions allow and it is safe to do so.

Safety Reminders:

  • Due to continued unsafe road conditions, please stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary.

  • Anyone who is able to safely shelter in place should continue to do so.

  • Clear snow from vents to prevent carbon monoxide buildup.

  • Stay clear of downed wires and report them immediately to 9-1-1.

  • Use caution during storm cleanup and watch for wires hidden by snow or debris.

  • If using a generator, operate it outdoors and away from buildings.

Eversource crews are on the Island and actively working to restore power as quickly and safely as possible. Continue to report outages at Eversource.com or by calling 1-800-592-2000.
