City of Post Falls Approves Key Public Works and Public Safety Infrastructure Projects
POST FALLS, Idaho - The Post Falls City Council has approved two important infrastructure projects aimed at improving city operations, efficiency, and long-term service capacity.
Public Works Operations Center Scope Expansion
City Council approved modifications to the scope of the planned Public Works Operations Center, allowing the project to move forward as a complete, long-term facility rather than a phased approach with additional projects needed soon.
For nearly twenty years, the Water, Streets, and Fleet operations have utilized space at the Water Reclamation Facility. This provided a cost-effective option; however future expansion of the facility precludes this being a long-term solution. As a result, in 2021 the city purchased property to construct a Public Works Operations Center.
The updated scope includes expanded space for Streets operations, full relocation of utilities staff with room for future growth, construction of a connecting road between Pleasant View and Corbin Roads, and the addition of a Fleet facility. These enhancements will consolidate currently dispersed Public Works divisions into a single, more efficient location and reduce operational redundancies.
By advancing a more comprehensive build now, the City is leveraging available funding and current construction pricing while avoiding the need for costly additional solutions in the future.
Police Department Parking Lot Improvements
Council also approved the award of a construction contract to Interstate Concrete and Asphalt Company for the Police Department Parking Lot Improvements project.
The project will expand both secured and public parking at the Police Department campus, addressing current needs and accommodating the planned future expansion of the police facility.
Improvements will include new parking stalls, site lighting, stormwater infrastructure, and space for a future building. Construction is expected to be completed by fall 2026.
