Apply for a CBJ Empowered Board – Seats Open on Planning Commission and Hospital Board  

Juneau residents are invited to apply for an Empowered Board with the City and Borough of Juneau. Those interested in serving should fill out the CBJ Board Application by the following deadlines:  

Vacant Seat on the Planning Commission – Applications Due October 12 at 5 p.m.  

The Clerk’s Office is accepting applications for an unexpired Planning Commission seat. The term begins immediately and lasts through December 31, 2027.  

Other Upcoming Empowered Board Seats – Applications Due December 7 at 5 p.m.  

• Bartlett Regional Hospital Board – three seats for full terms are open. Terms run from January 1, 2027 through December 31, 2029.  

• Planning Commission – three seats for full terms are open. Terms run from January 1, 2027 through December 31, 2029. 

Upon receipt of an application, the Clerk’s Office will email applicants advanced interview questions specific to each board. Applicants who have returned interview questions will be scheduled for a 10-minute interview with the full Assembly sitting as the Assembly Human Resources Committee. 

Serving on a CBJ Board is a great way to be involved in the community. If you want to learn more about a board before applying, visit juneau.org/clerk/boards-committees. Applications to join a board stay on file for one year and are added to the appointment process as vacancies arise for the applicant’s boards or committees of interest.
