Griffin Road bridge work
Detours will be in place for about the next 45 days along Griffin Road between Ohio Street and Broadway as work is done on the Bulls Eye Bridge.
The bridge is being paved, a sealant added and other work is being done. That work began Tuesday, June 10, and for about the next 20 days eastbound traffic on Griffin Road must detour at Ohio Street. Detour signs will direct motorists left onto Ohio Street and then right onto Finson Road to connect with Broadway to the north. This detour will be in place 24 hours a day.
Westbound traffic on Griffin Road will be able to proceed across the bridge toward Ohio Street.
Sometime around the first week of July this will be reversed. Eastbound traffic on Griffin Road will be able to travel across the bridge while westbound drivers will detour at Kenduskeag Avenue. This detour will be in place 24 hours a day and last about 20 days.
The bridge work is being conducted by the state Department of Transportation. Motorists should allow themselves extra time to travel through the area. The City of Bangor appreciates the patience of drivers as the work by the Department of Transportation continues for the next several weeks.
