Message from the City of Bangor

Traffic through a portion of downtown Bangor will be one-way on Wednesday, March 12, as C&C Lynch works to repair a broken sewer main in the area of 68 Main St. The Bangor Water District is doing its own water line work at the same time.

There will be a lane closure and parking restrictions on Main Street. No impacts to sewer users will occur during the repair work.

The work is scheduled to begin at 6 a.m. on March 12 and is expected to be completed that evening. Main Street will be closed to northbound traffic at the intersection of Main and Water streets. Northbound motorists trying to reach other points downtown will need to make a right onto Cedar Street, travel along to Washington Street and then make a left turn onto Exchange Street. Traffic will continue on Exchange to the intersection of Exchange, Harlow and State streets.

Main Street southbound traffic from Central Street and Hammond Street will not be detoured. Parking along the northbound side of Main Street from Water Street to Broad Street will be closed for construction.

Questions about the City sewer project and traffic diversion can be directed to Director of Engineering Jefferson Davis at 207-992-4244 or jefferson.davis@bangormaine.gov.
