Message from the City of Bangor
BANGOR, Maine – Residents should prepare for flooding in the region and power outages as the National Weather Service is forecasting steady rain, heavy at times, and wind gusts as high as 60 mph, mostly occurring overnight.
The rain Wednesday, Dec. 11, is expected to continue into Thursday morning, Dec. 12, with up to two inches of precipitation possible in some areas, according to the weather service. The strongest winds are expected to occur Wednesday night and will come from the south.
Several City departments such as Public Works, Police and Water Quality Management will have additional staff available overnight to ensure the City is promptly responding to flooding, power loss, downed lines and trees, and other issues that may arise.
Versant Power has called in additional crews and they will prioritize those areas with the highest level of outages.
Residents should be prepared for prolonged outages, and storm preparation tips are available at www.ready.gov.
Downed power lines and outages can be reported to Versant by visiting www.versantpower.com or calling 207-973-2000 or 855-363-7211. The Maine Emergency Management Agency also can have helpful information about the storm and how to stay safe.
Downed trees or limbs can be reported to Public Works by calling 207-992-4500. Residents can also report these issues by using the City’s SeeClickFix online platform.
Information about warming centers and other resources in Bangor can be found on this page.
The Community Connector transit service is expected to keep its normal route schedule Thursday, but that will be contingent on the severe weather subsiding by early Thursday morning, as forecasts predict.
