Applications open for interim At-Large Supervisor seat
STANARDSVILLE, January 29, 2026 – The Greene County Board of Supervisors announced Thursday night that it is requesting applications from interested individuals to serve as the interim At-Large District Supervisor until a special election can be held. The Supervisors will submit a request to the Greene County Circuit Court to hold the special election in concert with the Nov. 3, 2026, general election at the Feb. 3, 2026, meeting.
Supervisor Francis McGuigan resigned from the Greene County Board of Supervisors effective Jan. 21, 2026. He was elected as the At-Large Supervisor in November 2023 and began serving his term in January 2024. His term of service expires Dec. 31, 2027. To serve in this role, the applicant must live within Greene County and be a registered voter.

You can submit a printed application and resume to the Greene County Administration office 40 Celt Road, Stanardsville VA 22973 or to Deputy Clerk of the Board of Supervisors via email at tbeigie@gcva.us. Applications MUST be submitted by 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 12, 2026. Applicants will be contacted to schedule interviews for Feb. 16, 2026, and the Board of Supervisors will decide in its closed session on Feb. 24, 2026, with an announcement following in the open public meeting following at 6:30 p.m. To abide by the Code of Virginia, an announcement will be made during the Feb. 16, 2026, meeting of the names of those being considered and their appointment profiles and resumes will be available for review at the County Administrator’s Office, 40 Celt Road, Stanardsville VA 22973.
