Hurricane Milton Update #7-Final

At 800 AM EDT (1200 UTC), the center of Hurricane Milton was located near latitude 28.9 north and longitude 79.5 west.  Milton is moving toward the east-northeast near 18 mph (30 km/h), and this general motion is expected to continue today, followed by a turn toward the east tonight.  On the forecast track, the center of Milton will continue to move away from Florida and pass to the north of the Bahamas today.

The Town's impacts were limited. Minor debris was collected from the roadways. The street sweeper is scheduled for later today.

No damage was observed at Town facilities. Storm and sanitary stations operate normally.  


Town Facilities and Operations
The following will be closed today and will reopen on Friday, October 11, 2024: 
  • Town Hall 
  • Phipps Ocean Park and Seaview Tennis Centers
  • Par 3 Golf
  • Mandel Recreation Center
  • Marina Office
  • Town Beaches
  • Town parks
  • The Al Fresco restaurant 
Parking Enforcement Officers will be working, and existing parking regulations will continue to be enforced.

Waste Collection
Sanitation, recycling, and yard trash have resumed, and we have returned to our regular schedule.  

Public Meetings Update
Town Council Development Review scheduled for Wednesday, October 9th, will occur on Tuesday, October 15th, at 9:30 a.m. 

Landscaping and Construction
  • Landscape may resume now that it is blue skies.
  • All construction may resume on Friday morning, Oct 11, 2024.
  • Building inspections will resume on Monday, October 14, 2024.
