Town of Palm Beach Alerts and News Releases

Hurricane Milton Update #6

10/9/2024 - 6:14 PM
Palm Beach County is still under a Tropical Storm Warning.  Town officials continue to monitor the storm’s track and intensity closely. Regardless of the landfall location, hazardous conditions will extend well away from the system's center.

Hurricane Milton's center was near latitude 26.9 North and longitude 83.4 West. Milton is moving toward the northeast at 17 mph (28 km/h) and is expected to continue through tonight. A turn toward east-northeast is expected on Thursday, followed by a turn toward the east on Friday. On the forecast track, the center of Milton will make landfall near or just South of the Tampa Bay region this evening, move across the Central part of the Florida Peninsula overnight, and emerge off the East Coast of Florida on Thursday.

Palm Beach can expect deteriorating weather conditions with potentially strong winds (39-73 mph) and heavy rains beginning Wednesday. Residents should avoid the roadways if possible. Please do not drive into standing water.
