Hurricane Milton Update #3
The Town of Palm Beach and Palm Beach County are currently under a tropical storm warning due to the effects of Hurricane Milton. A Tropical Storm Warning means that tropical storm conditions are expected somewhere within the warning area, generally within 36 hours.
The Town Council Development Review Meeting scheduled for tomorrow, October 9, 2024 is rescheduled for Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at 9:30 a.m.
The U.S. Coast Guard requires that the bridges remain closed in the down position at sustained 39 m.p.h. winds. The contractor in charge of the FDOT drawbridges in Palm Beach County will be begin to lock the bridges at noon today. All bridges will be locked down and will not open to water traffic by the end of the day today in preparation of the incoming weather impacts.
At 8:00 a.m., the center of Hurricane Milton was located near latitude 22.5 North, longitude 88.8 West. Milton is moving toward the East-Northeast near 12 mph (19 km/h). A turn towards the East -Northeast and Northeast is expected today and Wednesday. The Hurricane is forecast to make landfall in Florida Wednesday night.
Town of Palm Beach Residents can expect deteriorating weather conditions with strong winds (39-73 mph) and heavy rains beginning on Wednesday morning until Thursday afternoon. Residents should avoid being on the roadways, if possible. Please do not drive into standing water.
