Traffic Impacts Week of August 3

Potential Traffic Impacts: 
Scheduled work for multiple Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) projects and Town-wide undergrounding work, including milling and paving, may affect your travel route. Please follow the posted signs and directions, proceed carefully, and allow for extra time in the affected areas. Access to homes will always be maintained. Traffic personnel and flaggers will assist motorists to ensure safety. For more information and details, please visit the Traffic Impacts webpage.  
 

  • Now – mid-August: The 100 block of Seaview Avenue will be closed for road construction and allow local traffic only. 
  • Watermain and Undergrounding Impacts: Week of August 3 
    • August 3 – 7: Watermain installation will require the southbound lane between Royal Poinciana Way and Pendleton Lane to be closed. A flagging operation will maintain traffic in both directions. It is recommended to use South County Road. 
    • North County Road between Atlantic Avenue and Sunrise Avenue: Lane Closure to be implemented 
    • Root Trail between North County Road and North Ocean Boulevard: Road Closed, Local Traffic Only. 
    • Sunset Avenue between Bradley Place and North County Road: Lane Closure, Local Traffic Only 
    • Royal Poinciana Way and Pendleton Lane: Southbound Lane Closure, detour to South County Road.
  • Scheduled Traffic and Pedestrian Impacts: Week of August 3 
    • Royal Palm Way  
      • August 3 – 7: Sidewalk closure along the east side of A1A extending onto Royal Palm Way for approximately 223 feet. 
      • August 7: Royal Palm Way will be closed between South County Road and Cocoanut Row beginning at 9 p.m. on Friday, August 7th until 5 a.m. on Saturday, August 8th for maintenance on the FDOT drainage system. Detour signs will be posted. 
    • 757 Island Drive
      • August 3 – 5: Lane closure within the cul-de-sac for milling and paving operations. 
    • 101 Worth Avenue 
      • August 4: Half-day road closure to facilitate crane setup and the delivery of elevator equipment to the Kirkland House. For details, please see the maintenance of traffic (MOT) plan.  
    • 250 Royal Palm Way  
      • August 7: Half-day road closure on Royal Palm Way to replace rooftop HVAC units. For details, please see the MOT plan
    • 220 Brazilian Avenue  
      • August 8 (Saturday Work): A crane will be staged in the Town of Palm Beach employee parking lot on Australian Avenue to install palm trees on the property. 
    • North County Road between Wells Road and Miraflores Drive: 
      • August 3  – 7: All traffic on North County Road is detoured via Crescent Drive at Wells Road. Only local traffic may access North County Road at El Mirasol and Canterbury Lane. The southbound lane will be closed starting at Miraflores Drive and north of Kawama Lane. Traffic will be detoured via Tangier Avenue, North Lake Way, and Kawama Lane. 
 
  • FDOT Drainage Operations Project:  
    • The westbound lanes of Royal Palm Way will be closed on the night of Friday August 7, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM, Saturday August 8 to perform work on behalf of FDOT.  
    • Westbound drivers will be routed south onto South County Road, west onto Brazilian Avenue, and north onto Cocoanut Row to access westbound Royal Palm Way. 
    • The work will include removing pavers that obstruct the drainage system and inspecting all manholes within the affected area. The Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) plan outlines the lane closure and detour routes. For additional information, please contact Marlon Williams at 786‑314‑6896.
 
  • Fire Hydrant and Water Valve Maintenance Program:  
    • The City of West Palm Beach Public Utilities Department will begin a fire hydrant and water valve maintenance program on Monday, August 3 that will run through October 21, to help ensure the City's water distribution system continues to operate safely, efficiently, and reliably as well as support the delivery of high-quality drinking water.  
    • During this maintenance action, some customers may experience temporary sediment or slight discoloration in their water. While the water remains safe to drink, running cold water from the tap for one to two minutes will clear the discoloration.  
    • Residents with questions about the maintenance program or water quality may contact the City of West Palm Beach Public Utilities Department at 561-822-2210. 
 
  • Sewer TV and Cleaning: 
    • This will be a moving operation as the TV and cleaning crew set up between sewer manholes from Debra Lane South to El Pueblo Way. Flaggers will be in place to assist traffic around the operation. 
 
  • Week of August 10: 
    • S.R. A1A/South Ocean Boulevard from Emerald Beach Way to S.R. 704/Royal Palm Way:
      • One lane of S.R. A1A/S. County Road may be closed with a flagging operation to direct traffic, daily, 8 a.m. until 6 p.m., and nightly, 8 p.m. until 6 a.m., Sunday night through Friday, for construction operations throughout the project corridor including concrete work, drainage installation, median construction and mast arm installation.  
    • Drilled Shaft Installation Ongoing for New Traffic Signal Mast Arms:  
      • Drilled shaft installation for new traffic signal mast arms is underway on S.R. A1A/S. County Road from Golfview Road/Hammon Avenue to S.R. 704/Royal Palm Way. Construction operations, sidewalk replacement and site restoration can be expected at the northwest and southwest corners of S.R. 704/Royal Palm Way, the southeast corner of the Town of Palm Beach Fire Station #1, the northeast and southwest corners of Peruvian Avenue, the southwest corner of Worth Avenue, the northwest corner of Golfview Road, and the southeast corner of Hammon Avenue. 
    • S.R. A1A/S. County Road Sidewalk Replacement from Brazilian Avenue to S.R. 704/Royal Palm Way: 
      • Sidewalk removal and replacement is expected to begin Monday, Aug. 10, on both sides of S.R. A1A/S. County Road from Brazilian Avenue to S.R. 704/Royal Palm Way. Work will be done in phases to minimize impacts and access to businesses will be maintained. In the interim, prep work and concrete saw cutting can be expected, Monday through Friday, prior to removal operations.
    • S.R. A1A/S. County Road Northbound Lane Closures and Detour at Peruvian Avenue: 
      • Drainage installation is currently expected to begin in late August on S.R. A1A/S. County Road at Peruvian Avenue. Northbound lanes on S.R. A1A/S. County Road may be closed around-the-clock as needed for construction operations between Peruvian Avenue and Chilean Avenue. During these closures, motorists traveling northbound on S.R. A1A/S. County Road will be detoured eastbound on Peruvian Avenue, northbound on South Ocean Boulevard, and westbound on Chilean Avenue to access northbound S.R. A1A/S. County Road. Additional details including the start date will be confirmed in the coming weeks.
