Public Safety Announcement - Impersonating Town Personnel

PUBLIC SAFETY ANNOUNCEMENT

Beware of Individuals Impersonating Town Personnel

The Town of Palm Beach Police Department is urging all residents and visitors to remain vigilant following reports of individuals falsely claiming to represent the Town of Palm Beach.

These individuals may approach residents or visitors and attempt to obtain personal information, financial account details, credit card numbers, or cash payments while falsely representing themselves as authorized Town employees.

Residents and visitors are reminded that authorized Town personnel will carry official Town identification and will present it upon request. In addition, Town employees whose duties require interaction with the public, including Parking Enforcement personnel, will be readily identifiable by official uniforms displaying Town of Palm Beach insignia.

To help protect yourself and others, please keep the following safety tips in mind:

    •  Legitimate Town employees will never request credit card information, banking details, or cash payments during routine interactions.

    •  Ask to see official Town identification if you are approached by someone claiming to be a Town employee.

    •  If you encounter someone you believe may be impersonating Town personnel, contact the Palm Beach Police Department's non-emergency line at 561-838-5454. If you feel threatened or believe a crime is in progress, call 911 immediately.
