Mid-Town Beach Renourishment Project Update
The Mid-Town Beach Renourishment Project began in mid-February to restore sand lost to storm damage along the shoreline from Seminole Avenue to Banyan Road. Implemented by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and sponsored by the Town of Palm Beach, the project will place over 500,000 cubic yards of sand on the beach once complete. Due to weather delays, the project has been extended to May 16, with the possibility of further extension through the end of May, depending on project progress and environmental conditions.
Crews are operating 24/7 to complete the project within the permitted timeframe. Work is currently progressing south of Clarke Avenue toward Peruvian Avenue, and additional beach access closures should be expected in that area. As operations move south, sand placement will continue along the shoreline toward Banyan Road.
Please continue to stay clear of all construction zones, equipment, and staging areas along the beach for your safety, and follow posted signage regarding closures and access restrictions. We appreciate your patience as this important coastal protection project continues.
