Con Ed Rate In Person Comments to PSC Wednesday, July 9, 2025 1pm & 6pm. Westchester County Center
Con Edison currently has two applications before the New York Public Service Commission (PSC) for proposed rate hikes in 2026 for delivery of electricity in the amount of 11.4%; and for delivery of natural gas in the amount of 13.3%.
The public may provide in person comments to the PSC Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. at Westchester County Center, First Floor Meeting Room, 198 Central Avenue, White Plains, NY 10606
Or July 8, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. at Cortlandt Town Hall, Cortlandt NY
The Village of Hastings-on-Hudson has joined with 39 other municipalities in Westchester to oppose these rate hikes.
Some of the reasons for the opposition include:
(1) how high Con Edison's rates are compared to the rates charged in neighboring counties,
(2) questions about whether Westchester might be charged more than these neighboring counties because Con Edison's rates are largely based upon the high cost of operating in New York City
(3) how the rates have been increasing much faster than the overall cost of living/inflation rate
(4) Con Edison’s capital expenditures for electric reliability improvements are virtually all within NYC and
(5) the Commission should look long and hard at whether Westchester residents’ rates should be adjusted due to the disparity in investments and in the reliability of service.
