Hello everyone,

Today is a day of sadness and a day of reflection, but also a day when we come together with our friends, family, and neighbors to remember.

There is hardly a person in our country, or around the world, whose life was not touched in some way by the horrific attacks of September 11, 2001. I remember vividly where I was and what I was doing that morning, as our entire nation turned its attention to New York City, Washington, D.C., and Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

Twenty-five years later, we remember that day as if it were yesterday. We continue to honor those who perished and those who demonstrated extraordinary courage, service, and compassion, from our first responders to the countless ordinary citizens who stepped forward to help their fellow Americans.

This evening, the Village of Hastings-on-Hudson will gather for our annual September 11th Remembrance Ceremony at 6:00 p.m. in Fulton Park at the Hastings-on-Hudson Public Library. We are honored to be joined by members of the Hastings-on-Hudson Volunteer Fire Department and their Honor Guard, along with music and moments of remembrance.

We traditionally hold this ceremony at 7:30 p.m., but out of respect for members of our community who are observing Rosh Hashanah, we have moved the ceremony to 6:00 p.m., allowing our Jewish friends and neighbors the opportunity to attend services beginning at 7:30 p.m. I hope you will join us this evening as we pause together to remember, reflect, and honor those we lost and those who served.

And to all our families, friends, and neighbors celebrating Rosh Hashanah, I wish you and your loved ones a happy, healthy, and peaceful New Year.
