Bridge Closure - Western Avenue 

A message from the Kennebec Water District: 
Starting at 8:00 AM on Wednesday May 14th, the Western Avenue bridge over Messalonskee Stream will be closed to traffic. Kennebec Water District will be repairing the water main attached to the bridge which was damaged by a tree floating downstream in the December 2023 flooding event. No water outages are anticipated. 

Motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes. Detours will be set up along Burleigh Street and Messalonskee Avenue. Pedestrian traffic across the bridge will not be impacted. Work is expected to be completed by 2:00 PM. Please reach out to KWD with any questions. Phone 207-872-2763
