COMMUNITY CONVERSATIONS
COME BE PART OF THE CONVERSATION!
This Wednesday, March 25th
9:00 A.M. in Selectboard Room

Chris Rector, chairman of the selectboard, would like to invite the public to engage in our informal, once-a-month meeting for an open conversation between Thomaston’s governance and the public it represents.

Our special guest will be Mike Felton, Executive Director of the St. George Community Development Corporation. Mike was the inaugural superintendent for St. George Municipal School Unit (MSU), where he worked for the last decade. In addition to taking on the usual responsibilities of a superintendent, Felton helped spearhead the Career & Technical Education (CTE)/Makerspace Project, which has received nationwide attention and accolades. The CDC has been a partner in the work of the CTE/Makerspace Project, assisting with fundraising, program development, and support since the effort launched in 2022. Felton will continue to work on programming for the CTE/Makerspace & Connectivity Hub, which will strengthen the partnership that the CDC has with the school and other regional service providers. Thomaston has recently formed a CDC and Mike’s experience is likely to shed light on the opportunities and challenges that relate to Thomaston’s CDC objectives.

Together we will foster a civil exchange where ideas and questions can be openly voiced and shared.  Those thoughts will allow the selectboard members to hear directly from the citizens and then convey those insights, concerns, thoughts, suggestions to the selectboard as a whole.

If you are unable to attend a meeting, you are encouraged to send comments and/or questions to Chris via email crector@thomastonmaine.gov, with Community Conversations in the subject line.  Your thoughts will then be read aloud and shared at the meeting.

Future meetings will typically be held the last Wednesday of each month, same place and time.  After the holidays, we will resume our regular schedule.   Selectboard members may alternate as "host" and the selectboard member's name will be included in the monthly reminders, as well as their email addresses.
