Community Gatherings in Response to the Hateful Antisemitic Message at the Metro North Train Station Yesterday
To the Irvington Community:
In response to the hateful antisemitic writing on the wall at the Irvington train station, there are two ways to make a difference.
Tonight, March 24, 7:00 PM at the Irvington Train Station, organized by Chabad of the Rivertowns. From Rabbi Benji Silverman: "We're choosing to respond by coming together with pride, unity, and light...We'll gather briefly at the station to stand together and bring something positive into that space. We'll share a few words and invite everyone to take on a small mitzvah—adding light in our own way. If someone chose to write hate on a wall, we will respond by showing up—with strength, dignity, and more Jewish life."
Tomorrow, Wednesday, March 25, from 7:30–9:00 PM at the Shames JCC on the Hudson (371 S Broadway, Tarrytown, NY), a community listening session. This initial gathering is an opportunity for residents to come together, share their concerns, discuss how we can all take action with solidarity and resolve, and plan next steps. Representatives from the Board of Trustees and the Irvington Police Department will be present. All are welcome. To provide our friends at the JCC with advance notice, please RSVP here.
