FBGC Emergency Management: Harper Producers Meeting 7/6

FBGC Emergency Management: A New World Screwworm Producer Update has been scheduled for July 6th at 6 PM at Harper Park Community Center. This meeting is open and free for the public. Speakers at the meeting include Texas A&M AgriLife Extension, Texas Parks and Wildlife, Gillespie Livestock Auction, and Pedernales Veterinary Clinic - Dr. Pat O'Neal DVM. Topics covered include field diagnosis, screwworm treatment, herd screwworm prevention, animal movement in and out of infestation zones, and a livestock market update.

Additionally, TAHC and USDA have declared the one Gillespie County screwworm case as an inactive case. This means that the animal has fully healed after larvae removal and treatment. No other Gillespie County cases have been detected as of this afternoon. Ongoing zone restrictions and checkpoints will continue to stay in place as the TAHC and other agencies continue to check traps and conduct inspections. When more information is available on timing or any projected changes to the zone or checkpoints, FBGCEM will be sure to share that through this distribution and social media accounts.
