Fredericksburg/Gillespie County Emergency Management: Extreme Fire Danger Today
Fredericksburg/Gillespie County Emergency Management: Extreme fire danger conditions are expected today (Sunday) and tomorrow (Monday) due to dry air, dry vegetation, and windy conditions. A Red Flag Warning has been issued from 12P today through 8P Monday night. The fire risk will continue overnight due to low humidity and winds.
Residents and visitors should practice outdoor fire safety this weekend. A burn ban is in effect and disregarding the burn ban may put you, your family, and your neighbors in danger. Outdoor conditions will make fires uncontrollable. Do not risk it. Follow the burn ban and let your neighbors know about the burn ban. If you see a neighbor preparing to burn, let them know about the ban.
Report any smoke that you may see to dispatch immediately. Fires that spark will move quickly and every second matters. Check your vehicle's tire pressure to prevent blowouts that could lead to a fire. Check trailers for chains that may drag and create sparks. Avoid welding and any activities that could spark a fire. This may include mowing.
