Carbondale Police Press Release - Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon

CARBONDALE – On December 28, 2024, at 2:00 a.m., officers of the City of Carbondale Police Department were in the 700 block of East Grand Avenue when they investigated a vehicle whose driver was excessively revving its engine causing a disturbance. Officers saw a firearm inside the vehicle in plain view and during the course of the investigation, officers located two additional firearms inside the vehicle along with several rounds of ammunition for all three weapons. The driver, Jaywhun M. Presberry, 24 of Cape Girardeau, Missouri was identified as the owner of the firearms and was arrested for Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Unlawful Use of a Weapon - No Firearm Owners Identification Card. Presberry was incarcerated in the Jackson County Jail and may have additional charges pending.
