PRICE TO COMPARE RELEASED - HOMEFIELD ENERGY VERSUS AMEREN ILLINOIS

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CARBONDALE -

The City of Carbondale participates in an electric aggregation buying group with 94 other communities known as the Southern Illinois Aggregation Partnership (SIAP).

Through this program, SIAP intends to increase the stability and affordability of energy supplied to eligible customers in our communities. This notice applies only to community members served by Ameren.

To that end, the Southern Illinois Aggregation Partnership (SIAP) selected the energy supplier “Homefield Energy”, with the promise to communicate proactively if the pricing of Ameren Illinois became lower than Homefield Energy.

In this past Spring/Summer, we saw Ameren’s rates come in slightly lower than the aggregated rate with Homefield Energy. Now, Ameren has announced their Fall/Winter rates, which have come in once again slightly lower than Homefield Energy’s rates.

The Ameren IL Price to Compare for October 1, 2024 – May 31, 2025 has come in at $0.0809/kWh. This is a slight decline to their summer rate this year, the first time we have seen the non-summer rate decrease in the past 5 years.

Our Homefield Energy aggregation rate remains at $0.091/kWh through the June 2025 meter readings. Unfortunately, Homefield Energy cannot make any changes to the SIAP rate until the current term ends.

This means that there is an average residential difference of $8.08/month between Ameren and Homefield pricing.

If residents wish to opt-out of the aggregation programs at this time, they should contact Homefield Energy at 866-694-1262 to request to be removed from the program.

Residents may note that if they opt-out of the aggregation program at this time, they will be required to stay an Ameren supply customer for a total of 12-months before they would be eligible to rejoin the aggregation program again, even if Ameren pricing were increase dramatically.

The Southern Illinois Aggregation Partnership does anticipate that the program will return to savings in the future, but at present we will be higher for the next 8-month period.
