Next “Carbondale Bikes!” Group Ride, May 28th along Carbondale Historic Bike Tour

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CARBONDALE -

To honor Bike Month and Historic Preservation Month, the City of Carbondale is offering a guided group ride along the Carbondale Historic Bike Tour on May 28, 2026, launching from the Town Square Pavilion at 5:30 PM.

As part of the ongoing Carbondale Bikes! group ride series launched in February, this ride along the Carbondale Historic Bike Tour (est. 2023) offers participants a fun and engaging way to experience Carbondale. Riders will discover local history and landmarks while enjoying the city’s connected network of bike paths, lanes, and routes through town and campus.

This ride is roughly a 5 mi loop, starting and ending at the Town Square pavilion. The ride will make stops at key locations to hear more from our Carbondale Bikes! guides about the history of our original train station, iconic spots on SIU campus, legacy businesses, murals, monuments and more.

This group ride will launch from the Town Square Pavilion at 5:30 PM and is estimated to take roughly 2 hours. All participants must sign a waiver and wear a helmet at all times in order to participate in the ride.

“Carbondale prides itself on providing its visitors, students, businesses and residents with a unique mix of edge and ease. It’s a cultural town, yet free of pretense, embracing the great outdoors as readily as urban sophistication. Here, we are open to new ideas, experiences and cultures, so you are encouraged to both express yourself and be yourself, in all ways. That’s Carbondale…All Ways Open…for family, fun, business, new ideas and a bright tomorrow.”
